Bagan was the capital of The Kingdom of Pagan, which unified the area of modern-day Myanmar and ruled from the 9th to 13th century. During this time, over 10,000 temples, pagodas, and monasteries were constructed in the Bagan region, of which only 2,200 remain. This temple is a hollow gu-style temple, typical from this period. This style of temple was used for meditation and worship. Today, the Bagan Archaeological Zone is a major tourist attraction. Explore another Bagan Temple in the region!
