The Gallipoli Campaign was a campaign of World War I. Allied forces invaded the Gallipoli peninsula (in Modern-Day Turkey) on April 25, 1915 with the aim of capturing Constantinople, the capital of the Ottoman Empire. After eight months of brutal fighting, the Allies withdrew. The campaign is remembered every year in Australia and New Zealand on ANZAC Day, April 25.
