The Erb Memorial Union (EMU) building at the University of Oregon is undergoing renovation after serving over 60 years as a campus hub for students. When the project is completed, most will only notice the beautiful new building at the heart of campus. But what happens beneath the surface is also a crucial part of this renovation. Lease Crutcher Lewis, the general contractor on the project, hired Matterport Service Partner, ToPa 3D to capture the underground tunnel system. The 3D model was used to share design options with other remote project teams and to document progress. Because the tunnels are underground with small crawlspaces that are difficult to access, using Matterport as a remote-viewer was a rapid and cost-effective solution to visualize this space.
