FERMI is the seeded free electron laser (FEL) facility at the Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste laboratory. It offers unique opportunities to explore the structure and transient states of condensed matter, soft matter, and low-density matter using a variety of diffraction, scattering and spectroscopy techniques. Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste is a multidisciplinary international research center, specializing in generating high quality synchrotron and free-electron laser light and applying it in materials science. Its mission is to promote cultural, social and economic growth through basic and applied research, technical and scientific training, and transfer of technology and know-how.
