High Density Capture
For thin structures like pipes and wiring, or other hard-to-capture detail, High Density capture mode with Matterport’s Pro3 camera increases the fidelity of the E57 making them more visible. Download sample E57 files exported from this space.
Autodesk Integration
Our Autodesk® Revit plugin allows direct import of E57, XYZ, and BIM files from your Matterport account without additional file conversion. Streamline your workflows by getting the free plugin from the Autodesk App Store today.

How to order your e57 file:
Step 1
Create a digital twin of a space.
Step 2
Log into your account, select a model under All Spaces, and click the “Export” button in the upper right. *Add-Ons must be enabled in account settings by an administrator.
Step 3
Select E57 File and “Get” then complete your purchase.
E57 FAQs:
A MatterPak bundle consists of several usable files:
an .XYZ file (a colorized point cloud)
a PDF file containing a reflected ceiling plan
a PDF file containing a high-resolution floor plan. This is not the same as Schematic Floor Plans. This is similar to the ceiling plan image but of the floor.
an OBJ file (a textured 3D polygonal mesh file, similar to what you see in the dollhouse)
The E57 point cloud data is very close to the raw data captured by the camera. More details are preserved compared to XYZ point clouds. All E57 files from Matterport are registered, meaning the pose of each scan position is included in the file. Panoramic imagery from all scan positions are included as skyboxes.
E57 is a vendor-neutral, high-density point cloud file, defined by the ASTM E2807 standard. It can be used to complete complex workflows in a wide variety of 3D design applications.
The E57 file is for architects, MEP engineers, general contractors, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, BIM managers, VDC managers, and other construction professionals who need a higher density point cloud than the MatterPak .XYZ file provides to complete complex workflows. You must satisfy the following prerequisites to order an E57 file:
Have a Professional plan or higher.
Use one of the following capture devices for all scans: Matterport Pro3, Pro2, Pro2 Lite, Pro, or Leica BLK 360 G1 camera.
The Matterport E57 file is a one-time purchase per space link. For pricing, refer to the Matterport Price List.
Follow the steps in the How to Download an E57 File topic to order the file.
It might take 15 minutes to several hours for the E57 file to be created. For very large spaces (over 10,000 square feet), it might take as long as a day.
No, there is no limit on square footage for E57 files.
The E57 files can be very large files. Their size depends on sweep count (and camera type) only. The Matterpak file size depends on the physical size of the space. There is not a linear relationship between the two. The size of the E57 file is approximately 60MB peer sweep for Pro2 scans and 120MB per sweep for Pro3 and BLK360 scans.
You can expect to receive multiple E57 files for spaces with 500+ scan points. For example, if your model consists of 600 scan points, you will receive a .zip file containing one large E57 file with 500 scan points in it, and another smaller E57 with 100 scan points in it. You can easily combine separate E57 files using either of the following methods:
If both files are in the same folder, you can choose to import the whole folder into Recap.
You can import one of the E57 files, and then use the large plus sign to import the other E57 file before launching the project.
Remember that you should not register the E57 files. They're already registered, so you should go straight to Launch Project after they are imported.
If you have multiple point clouds from the same scanned property:
Import your first E57 file like you usually do.
Click the large + button to load a second set of scans.
Select your second E57 file.
Remember that you should not register the E57 files.
No, the blur is not retained in the E57.
No, window, mirror, and trim markings have no effect on E57 files.
For information about how to import the file and use it within a third-party program, check with the specific 3D third-party program’s support team. For instructions for how to import it into Autodesk Revit®, refer to the Matterport Plug-In for Revit® article.
Open Autodesk Recap Pro and start a new project (Recap Pro is recommended because it allows you to skip the registration step).
Import the .XYZ or .E57 file into Recap Pro. In Recap Pro, you do not need to adjust any scan settings, such as filtering or intensity clipping.
Instead of 'Auto-register Scans', select "Skip registration". Our E57 files are registered already, so selecting "skip registration" preserves the registration.
Finally, Launch the Project and you will see the full point cloud.

If the download fails, it might be due to one of these issues:
You don't have sufficient storage space on the drive you're downloading to.
You're running an antivirus program in the background.
The network might have timed out during the download.
If you're using an external hard drive to download the file, the read-write process might cause errors.
You might have browser or security settings hindering the download.
