Q&A with Ricky Wolff of TURN PRO Media

Todd Lewandowski July 23, 2018

Competitive pricing (as low as $0.04/ft²) and a focus on volume kick-started Ricky’s photography business. At Matterport, we love our photographers. Photographers were some of our first customers. Not only are they “early adopters” who love technology, but they are also entrepreneurial-minded, diligent, and great at discovering new opportunities. Ricky Wolff is one of these tough, hard-working photographers. Since creating TURNPRO Media in January 2016, he has captured over 100 Matterport Spaces in the Atlanta and surround areas of Georgia, since April 2017. He also recently opened an office in Birmingham, Alabama. We chatted with Ricky to hear his story and the keys to his success.

Leica BLK360 Integration Opens Up More Opportunity to Capture the World in 3D

July 12, 2018

Two years ago I did a sample Matterport scan for Shari Kamimori, founder of 3D Virtual Design Technology (3DVDT) in Sonoma, California. Shari has over 20 years of experience in using 3D laser scanners and built her company into a leader in the scan-to-BIM space. In May of this year, Shari was presenting at the 2018 California Preservation Conference in Palo Alto and wanted to give a product demo showcasing the use of the BLK360 in scanning a winery. When Shari reached out to see if I’d be interested in working with her to scan Three Sticks Winery, I jumped at the opportunity. In reflecting on the experience, I was impressed with how well the BLK360 and Matterport’s Capture app work together. This powerful integration makes it easier, faster and more efficient than ever before to scan spaces. All told, it took 40 scans to capture the winery, 12 of which were with the BLK360. Switching back and forth between the Pro2 and the BLK360 was seamless - including the process for using the Capture app on the BLK360, which is exactly identical to the process for using Matterport’s camera.

Matterport Disrupts Insurance Claims & Restoration with Artificial Intelligence Powered Reality Capture

Tomer Poran June 28, 2018

Reality Capture has been around, arguably since the first camera. Some might say since the invention of the papyrus in ancient Egypt. In more recent years, with every new sensor – be it thermal, hyperspectral, time of flight laser – new opportunities are presented for capturing our world in new ways. This could mean capturing data we never before had access to – like satellites showing us places we never knew existed. It could also mean capturing data at scale and efficiency where only manual methods previously existed – like drones using NDVI sensors to tell us within minutes the water levels of entire acres. Often, what new leaps in reality capture mean – going back to the first camera – is allowing us to agree with one another on what ‘reality’ actually was at certain point in time.

Broker Marketing Series: 3D Virtual Tours vs Open Houses

Joel Garcia June 11, 2018

Traditional open houses can be a hassle for buyers and agents. If they’re crowded, it’s hard for the agent and buyers to connect. That leads to time-consuming follow-up. If they’re poorly attended, the open house is a waste of your time and budget. Luckily, you don’t need to rely solely on traditional open houses to be successful and complete a sale. By combining virtual tours with the basic components of an open house, you can give buyers the flexibility they need with the immersive experience of visiting a home in person.

Broker Marketing Series: How to recruit and retain top agents

Joel Garcia May 22, 2018

Recruiting top talent is vital to brokers working to build a successful real estate team because your team of agents is your face to prospects and clients. Even though they are the people finding opportunities and closing deals, most of those agents work independently, with or without a brokerage. If you’re seeking to recruit and retain the ‘cream of the crop’ agents, it takes smart, relevant strategies. Successful real estate broker marketing and recruitment start with building a strong agency culture. The two main components of a strong culture are your offerings and the people in your company.
