The DRS team of restoration experts are on call every day, 24/7. When water, fire, or mold damage occurs, DRS documents the residential or commercial property to create a restoration plan. In 2018, DRS moved away from traditional 2D photographs and manual measurements, using the Matterport Pro2 camera as a faster, more comprehensive, and reliable way to capture losses.
“The Matterport 3D models give our company way to scope mitigation remotely and accurately, saving 75% of the time required to estimate projects,” Danny Strong, President, CEO, and Founder of DRS said. “As a result, we’ve decreased our estimation staff and increased our number of scanning technicians, helping us recover more properties faster.”
Because 3D models are within 1% accuracy, DRS reduced the number of follow-up property visits required to gather missing measurements and photos — often requiring more than six hours of time driving in New England.
DRS works with insurance companies to expedite the claims processes. The company relies on the Matterport Cloud to share 3D models of property damage with insurance adjusters, providing interactive, dimensional documentation. “The Matterport Cloud empowers us to centralize 95% of our data in one system, and easily share the models with insurance adjusters,” Strong said. “We bypass previous hurdles of organizing and uploading photographs and addressing follow-up questions.”
More and more, mitigation and reconstruction managers are planning, evaluating, and advancing phases of restoration projects by reviewing 3D models virtually. “When we transition from our mitigation to reconstruction services, we virtually walk through Matterport 3D models, identifying any issues and resolving our approach,” Strong said. “This helps us consider each situation from all angles, and reference Matterport 3D models of similar situations, allowing us to work as efficiently as possible while saving travel time.”
