From Scan to Story: Auto-Tours in Matterport
Creating a guided tour is as much about judgment as it is about navigation. Knowing which rooms to highlight, where to pause, and how to move someone through a space takes context. And until now, it has required hands-on work for every model.
With Auto-Tours, we’re transforming the way you create guided tours, eliminating tedious setup while empowering you to maintain complete creative control.
Auto-Tours doesn’t replace your expertise; instead, it accelerates your workflow, making it up to 10× faster to craft an engaging tour. Now, you begin with an intelligent, ready-made foundation, so you can focus on perfecting the experience, not starting from scratch.
A Kick-Start Guided Tour You Can Customize
Auto-Tours uses AI to quickly generate a Guided Tour in workshop, selecting stops, view angles, and room descriptions for a coherent walkthrough based on the property's layout. The result is a near-ready tour in seconds.
Auto-Tours are meant to speed up creation while keeping human input; users can still edit, reorder, or change stops as with any Guided Tour.
You’ll often see strong results in spaces with clear, repeatable layouts (including many homes and apartments), but Auto-Tours can also be used as a jump-start for other property types, like offices, where you may want to refine stops, adjust pacing, or swap viewpoints for your audience.

Availability and Adoption
Auto-Tours is currently available in open beta for customers on the Professional+ tier. As a beta feature, we’re continuing to refine tour quality and improve edge cases.
So far, we have seen Auto‑Tours increasing overall Guided Tour creation by ~15% and its adoption continues to trend upward compared to fully manual workflows.
A Faster Starting Point
With Auto-Tours, every scan starts with a story. Instead of spending time assembling an initial walkthrough, customers can focus on refinement and presentation. It’s not about removing humans from the loop — it’s about getting them to the interesting part faster.
