Dive into the crystal clear waters of Mauritius at the Grand Beachfront Villa

Explore the idyllic setting of this stunning location with Visites Virtuelles Studio

Nothing rivals a trip to the beach when you’re looking to relax and unwind.

This digital twin of the Grand Beachfront Villa at the JW Marriott Mauritius Resort lets you explore one of the most enchanting spaces the island has to offer, from the comfort of your own home.

Through this stunning virtual tour, you can gaze out across the azure seas of the Indian Ocean while taking in the beauty and luxury of the building’s decor and amenities.

We spoke to JP Moris, the photographer at Visites Virtuelles Studio, to discover the process behind creating this digital marvel.

What inspired the 3D capture of this space?

It’s a remarkable establishment that we believe deserves to be shown off. We’re proud to say it’s the largest beachfront villa in the entire Indian Ocean, measuring in at 22,639.41 ft² with four swimming pools. We incorporated over 200 scans in the final digital twin — that’s how big it is!

What are the “must-sees” you want visitors to explore and why?

The terraces and swimming pools with the view of the lagoon are particularly magnificent. They really encapsulate the essence of a villa and highlight what a guest would want from a beachfront stay.

What’s the one thing you want visitors to take away after exploring your 3D tour?

I hope that visitors will appreciate the mesmerizing brightness of the space, the beautiful sunny images on the lagoon, and the fluidity of movement the digital twin manages to capture so perfectly.

What are the benefits of Matterport digital twins?

Matterport digital twins show reality in its purest form. These images can’t be retouched or digitally altered in any way. My job is just to touch up this reality — to take the best scans and to maintain the most beautiful and the most homogeneous luminosity throughout the whole virtual tour.

Do you have any plans to capture more 3D experiences?

Yes. However, each space presents a new challenge. I've created hundreds of Matterport digital twins that faithfully reproduce sunny exteriors over the years and I continue perfecting this process. I’m never fully satisfied so I strive to improve continuously every time I create a new rendering.

I like the digital twins that use beautiful, sunlight images to highlight the villas and their gardens’ aesthetic. Because of the weather, it can be challenging to obtain uniform sunlight and luminance on all the scans of the digital twin, but I never stop trying! I also like very detailed and clean 3D dollhouses.

It’s sometimes difficult to scan all the corners of a villa to obtain a perfect 3D dollhouse. The weather is often capricious, so you have to constantly adapt. It can be a race against time with the sun. I'm also trying to achieve artifact-free transitions so visitors can move quickly and smoothly through the digital twin. I’ll definitely be generating more twins as I endeavor to get them just right!

Anything else you would like to add?

I love this job. I particularly enjoy creating digital twins in Mauritius. I get excited when I start scanning a new villa or resort. I know from experience that there’s always a last-minute unforeseen event due to the weather, lack of time, or a problem with shadows or alignments, but that’s what makes the creation of a digital twin with Matterport so exhilarating. One can always try to improve and beautify a Matterport 3D digital twin to make the visitor experience even more valuable and interesting.
