Stroll through the Nike store in Milan

010360.nl captures an interactive 3D experience with Matterport

With most retail shops closed across Italy and much of the world, Nike based in Milan approached 010360.nl to find a way for customers to experience their store virtually. Using Matterport, customers can now walk around the store at their own pace. This experience has unlocked extensive opportunities to the world of retail and the capabilities of a virtual experience, projecting the same effects, parallel to that of an in-person store experience.

We caught up with Barry Roosloot and Jan Kees Hoek at 010360.nl, about their project with Nike Milan and how Matterport helped bring the store to life.

What inspired the 3D capture of the Nike store located in Milan?

Nike is always looking for the most innovative developments. In the field of retail, advertising, web design, etc. It has been an honor for 010360.nl to capture the beautiful Nike store in Milan with our Matterport Camera, as well as the Nike Showroom in Rome so that buyers from all over the world can visit them despite the coronavirus lockdowns. It is great to see how a small company from Rotterdam is allowed to work with large companies such as Nike.

What are the “must-sees” you want visitors to explore and why?

The dollhouse is especially important to portray in this presentation. The old building in Milan has become almost futuristic due to the renovation. Many residents of the city waited a long time to view the store and on the day of the opening, the 3D-VR presentation was online to give everyone the opportunity to view the property. We made the recording the night before the opening. At 5:00 am we finished the recording and a few hours later the 3D experience was on the Nike site.

Nike Store Milan Q&A

What’s the one thing you want visitors to take away after exploring your 3D tour?

For 010360.nl it is important that our customers can count on quality and perfection. For the new Nike Store in Milan, it was important that both customers and the management of Nike would be satisfied with the result. It was also vital that the new layout and environment of the store would serve as an example to inspire other Nike stores in Europe to reproduce the design.
