Introducing the Pro2 3D Camera: My All-in-One Marketing Solution
I’ve been a Matterport Service Partner since the Spring of 2014, the same year that the original Matterport Pro 3D Camera hit the market. I still remember the initial excitement I felt when I created my first Matterport model and how stunning the 3D experience was. Since then, with the introduction of CoreVR, Multimedia Mattertag™ Posts, and 360° Views, the Matterport software platform has only gotten better.
Today, I am thrilled to witness the launch of the new Pro2 3D Scanning Camera, the latest hardware improvement to the Matterport media system.
I’ve been fortunate enough to build a thriving business with the current Pro2 3D Camera, catering to real estate agents, brokers, restaurant and hotel chains, and many more. Now, with the introduction of the Pro2 3D Camera, I can expand my business and provide even more value to my clients with much less work. In one single scan with the Pro2 3D Camera, I will be able to provide the same cutting-edge 3D tours, captivating VR walkthroughs, and traditional 2D floor plans, but can now also offer high-resolution print-ready photography - all from one easy to use device.
I trialled the Pro2 last week and the differences from the Pro immediately jumped out at me. The new Pro2 Camera provides much clearer visuals, improved zooming capability and built-in GPS technology that enables automatic tagging of scan locations. Now, my customers will be able to see greater detail of captured objects in the scan, such as shadowing and imaging of chair legs, tables and plants. The resolution has improved so dramatically that I’m also able to get sharper, professional image quality from any angle - including long distance.
Like most photographers, I capture a lot of places where the outdoor scenery is an incredibly important aspect of the property. In the Bay Area, being able to take full advantage of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and the Bay Bridge makes a significant difference. With the new Pro2 Camera, any long distance vista is fair game. Plus, the picture resolution is improved so the PNG files can be used in agent printed brochures, which is something I wasn’t able to provide to my customers before without taking the time to take additional shots with a DSLR.
In my experience, for the vast majority of customers, high-resolution still photography is still the most important part of a marketing package, with 3D growing in popularity. Often, with limited budget, these customers would opt to only spend on print to spare the added expense and the inconvenience of an extra ‘3D’ shoot. The Pro2 does away with the print/digital dilemma by offering the whole package, both interior and exterior, for less cost. Now, I can give my clients everything they need in one perfect, cost-effective package.
With the enhanced capture functionality of the Pro2 3D Camera, the opportunities are endless. Whether your Space is residential, commercial, a hotel, an apartment community, a senior center, a museum, or a retail outlet, you can now create printed materials and share sharper, higher-resolution 3D walkthroughs.
Whenever I scan a new place, I still feel a small tinge of excitement when I see the processed 3D model for the first time. After I captured my first space with the Pro2 3D Camera, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel the same rush of anticipation before seeing the final product - and I wasn’t disappointed. Matterport is the future. Needless to say, I am excited to see what they come up with next.
