Generative AI Guidlines

These Generative AI User Guidelines (“Guidelines”) govern your use of Matterport’s AI Features within our Platform, and incorporate our Terms of Use and any applicable service-specific terms, located at Matterport.com/legal, which are hereby incorporated by reference into these Guidelines.
These Guidelines have two goals: to maintain the high quality of content generated using our suite of products and services, and to keep our products and services accessible to our users in an engaging and trustworthy way that fosters creativity and productivity.
1. No AI/ML Training
When using our AI Features, you agree you will use them only for your creative and productivity work product and not to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models. This means you must not, and must not allow third parties to, use any content, data, Output, or other information received or derived from any AI Features, including any Outputs, to directly or indirectly create, train, test, or otherwise improve any machine learning algorithms or artificial intelligence systems, including any architectures, models, or weights.
2. Respect Intellectual Property
Using our AI Features to create, upload, or distribute content that infringes, misappropriates, or otherwise violates the intellectual property rights, privacy rights, publicity rights, or other proprietary rights of any third party is prohibited. This may include, but is not limited to, entering text prompts designed to generate copyrighted, trademarked, or otherwise infringing content, uploading an input or reference image that includes a third party’s copyrighted content, generating text that plagiarizes third-party content, or using a third party’s personal information in violation of their privacy or data protection rights. If you’re not sure whether your content violates the rights of a third party, you may want to reach out to an attorney or consult publicly available reference materials from the U.S. Copyright Office and the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.
If you want to report the misuse of your own creative work or your own intellectual property by one of our users, you can do that [here](link to report misuse). If you have a contract or other dispute with a user regarding content they have uploaded to our Platform, please resolve the issue directly with the user. We can’t moderate contracts,, employment, or other disputes between our users and the public.
3. Be Authentic and Transparent
We disable accounts that engage in behavior that is deceptive or harmful, including, but not limited to:
Using fake, misleading, or inaccurate information in your profile
Impersonating other people,entities or organizations
Using unauthorized automated or scripting processes (such as bulk or automated uploading of content through a script or bot)
Engaging in schemes, third-party services or other manipulative tactics to boost account engagement (artificially increasing the number of appreciations, views, or other metrics)
4. Respect Privacy
Do not use our AI Features to create, upload, or distribute content that violates the privacy of others. This includes, but is not limited to:
Creating or sharing digital twins that replicate real-world private properties without proper consent
Using personal information without proper authorization
Sharing or disclosing private information of others without their consent
Your prompts and the results generated by AI Features in the Platform may be reviewed through both automated (e.g., machine learning) and manual methods for abuse prevention and content filtering purposes. 5. Use Your Judgment
Generated Outputs sometimes may be inaccurate or misleading, or otherwise reflect content that does not represent our views. As a result, you are responsible for using your judgment to review and carefully validate all generated Outputs.
6. No Professional Architectural or Engineering Advice
AI Features are not intended to provide professional architectural, engineering, or other similar professional advice. Do not use AI Features to design or make decisions for designing or making decisions related to building structures, renovations, or other significant construction projects without consulting a qualified professional. AI Features cannot replace the expertise provided by certified professionals in these fields and do not form any such professional relationship.
7. Generative AI Transparency
We may attach or publish information for Digital Twins indicating that a Digital Twin was created using AI Features to let people know it was generated with AI.
8. Commercial Use
Outputs from AI Features are not for commercial use unless you have obtained prior consent from Matterport.
9. Additional Content Sources
The Output from our AI features may include non-generative content (such as trademarks or logos or other proprietary materials) that is subject to the terms of your agreement with us. You are responsible for ensuring compliance with any applicable licensing, usage rights, or restrictions associated with such content.
10. More Information
We may take action on your account if we discover content or behavior that violates these Guidelines. For more information about what you can and can’t do while using our AI Features, please refer to your agreement with us.
By adhering to these guidelines, you help us maintain a positive, respectful, and creative environment for all users. Thank you for your cooperation.
