Experience Peller Estates Winery from the comfort of your own home via virtual tour
For wine connoisseurs, visiting a winery is a memorable experience. It's also where they may just savor one of the best wines they've ever had. But let's say you can't make it to an actual winery. Thanks to Senserie Virtual Media, anybody can pour a glass of wine from the comfort of their home and take a virtual tour of Peller Estates Winery at Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
To learn more about Senserie's virtual tour of Peller Estates Winery, which was made possible using Matterport technology, we sat down with Kyle Hall, founder and Managing Partner of Senserie Virtual Media, a subsidiary of Senserie Digital Marketing Inc.
What inspired the 3D capture of this space?
Coming from the food and beverage world, we were always fascinated by the stories, history, manufacturing process and true labor of love it takes to create truly world-class products like wine, spirits and beer. When we started Senserie Digital Marketing Inc., our goal was to focus on what we know best and create truly immersive experiences at the home of these beverage products. The one thing all great beverage products have in common is their connection to their location. This could be whisky from Scotland, Tequila from Mexico or wine from Niagara-on-the-Lake, which is the case here with Peller Estates Winery.
We work with brands to replicate this ‘sense of place’ via digital solutions. We understand that customers from all over the world will travel to wineries and distilleries to try these amazing products and steep themselves in the stories and history of the place. That is what we try to do — we capture the heart of the place, these moments you get at the winery, and build our virtual tour to be as experiential as possible. If you can’t visit the winery personally, why not pour a glass of their wine and visit it digitally from the comfort of your home?
What are the “must-sees” you want visitors to explore and why?
You need to check out the barrel cellar and 10 Below ice room. On this level, you will find footage of the winemaker pulling wine from the barrel and an introduction to their ice room, a stunning experience to try and taste the famous Canadian ice wine, where the grapes can only be picked once the temperature reaches 10 below Celsius.
What’s the one thing you want visitors to take away after exploring your 3D tour?
With all our tours, we hope our viewers get a sense of the winery. An emotional connection to the winery and its mission. We want people to be able to enjoy a glass of their wine while exploring the winery virtually. We have always believed the best wine we have ever had is the one where you are at the physical winery. If we can achieve a little piece of that feeling with our virtual tours then we know we are on the right track.
What are the benefits of Matterport digital twins?
In the case of a global product, the benefit is obvious! To see the stunning wine appellation and winery in the Niagara-on-the-Lake region. To enjoy a glass of wine while getting lost in the experience and stories.
Do you have any plans to capture more 3D experiences?
Yes, we have multiple hospitality venues in the pipeline. We honestly see the captured piece of space as the foundation of what is possible. Then, using the different features, it is all about the personal experiences we can layer into it. That's what makes them fun. Each one has a different story to showcase.
Anything else you would like to add?
We add drone footage and stories from the winemaker, and we even scan the vineyards. These additional pieces are all part of the full virtual tour experience that we build with the additional software we use.
