Inspiring the Next Generation

Tinker, Explore and Be Curious at The Children’s Museum Jordan

Located in Amman, Jordan, The Children’s Museum Jordan, has hosted more than three million visitors since it opened its doors in 2007. The museum was founded by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdallah, queen consort of Jordan, who is known for advocacy work to create opportunities for advancement for Jordanians through improving education, empowering communities, and innovation in technology.

Home to a wealth of indoor and outdoor exhibits, the museum also features a library, art studio, tinker lab, and facilities for educational programs, events and shows. Behind the library is the Secret Garden, named after the Frances Hodgson Brunett novel, is a green learning space where children can learn about local plants, horticulture, and nutrition.

Noor Al Ramouni, Marketing Manager of True Markets 3D, who captured the space, tells us about the unique exhibits of the museum and what it was like to capture such an imaginative space.

Q: What inspired the 3D capture of The Children’s Museum?

Our inspiration for capturing the museum was derived from our belief and support for the museum’s noble message: offering an inclusive yet very unique learning environment that children and families can enjoy.

The museum is over 2,600 square feet (8,000 square meters) and contains more than 180 indoor and outdoor interactive exhibits and educational facilities. It's a journey and we wanted our virtual tour to create an immersive experience for the visitors to explore the exhibit and experience each section vividly.

Q: What are the “must-sees” you want visitors to explore and why?

Visitors will enjoy the interactive educational facilities and benefit from it regardless of their learning style, background, and demographic. The exhibit “I Am Change” aims at raising children’s awareness about alternative energy resources, and energy-preserving practices, in order to prepare them to play their future role in protecting the environment and be the good change we want to see.

Also, the Biodiversity In Jordan exhibit is considered the first of its kind to celebrate the variety of animal and plant species of the country.

Q: What’s the one thing you want visitors to take away after exploring the exhibits?

Education is not just about learning facts, but more about  how to think and make good choices. Learning can also be fun, simple and a unique experience for our kids.

Q: The museum is massive and contains an abundance of detailed themed exhibits. Was it difficult to capture the building and its educational interactive displays?

It was not an easy mission since we had to use the Leica BLK360 for the outdoor areas and the Matterport Pro2 for the indoor areas. The scan was done by the end of the winter season since we had to rescan many times due to rain.

Q: The museum covers a wide array of scientific subjects and injects educational opportunities to explain aspects of the modern world to children. What do you think is the most important quality within the exhibits that translate complex teachings so well for children to understand?

Fun educational exhibits that allow children to exercise their brains through hands-on activities and educational games must be suitable for the younger age groups to entice curiosity, imagination and open-ended learning. There is no right or wrong; children decide what to do and how to do it while their brains consciously and unconsciously absorb important learning concepts.

Q: Anything else you would like to add?

We at True Markets 3D, believe that we should continuously take our next mission to the next unexpected level. Accordingly, we do always challenge ourselves to the next big project that must be an added value to the community
