360˚ Views allow Matterport users to capture outdoor scenery with their existing Matterport Pro Camera, something that was previously difficult or impossible in some circumstances. With 360˚ Views, users can collect complete 2D RGB panoramas without 3D data, and add them right to their 3D Showcases alongside their 3D model data. 360˚ Views can be captured in bright and direct sunlight outdoors, and be used to add vantage points to large indoor spaces where alignment is not necessary. They are also a great way to showcase nearby vistas or amenities that are not contiguous with a property.

Improvements to our vision pipeline result in much more true-to-life colors, especially for outdoor panoramas with blue hue.
Revised vision algorithms result in deeper, richer black tones. Also, in Spaces with direct overhead lighting, this release reduces the appearance of glare and lens flare.
To better support our international customers, this release features measurements in metric units and UTF8 support in Space names, descriptions, and other supporting text, to support expanded non-English languages.
Matterport introduces its first app for virtual reality with VR Showcase for Samsung Gear VR. VR Showcase enables anyone to experience a select library of Matterport Spaces on the most immersive consumer media platform - the smartphone-based Samsung Gear VR. Matterport customers can also have their own Spaces VR-enabled via our VR Beta Program.
Through advances in our automatic vision processing, we are now able to automatically separate different levels of a property into multiple floors, allowing users to view floors separately in 3D Showcase.
To enable more users to learn how to navigate through Matterport 3D Spaces, we have added Navigation help to 3D Showcase. This onboarding flow teaches new users how to use 3D Showcase, reducing drop-off rates and boosting engagement.
The data gathered from the real world isn't always complete and perfect, but that shouldn't stop us from filling in the gaps. Our revised algorithm is now able to predictively complete the holes in our 3D environments so dollhouses are cleaner and navigation is more complete.
Now 3D Showcases can be set to automatically play upon page load by adding a simple URL parameter.
This release of the Matterport Capture App for iPad includes an in-app user guide to help you when scanning on site. This includes answers to frequently asked questions, explanations of key terminology, and a quick-start video. The Capture app will also diagnose potential problems and provide real-time suggestions to resolve issues like a loose tripod or low scan position overlap.
Advancements in our vision algorithm now allow us to automatically separate different floors in a 3D Space, enabling users to explore 3D Showcase in a whole new way. Now, users can view each floor individually, providing a complete understanding of its layout and relationship to floors above and below.
Users now have the ability to delete Spaces, folders, and collaborators.
The all-new Workshop is the content creation and content management application that defines the 3D Showcase experience. Over the next several months, additional updates to Workshop will be released that will continue to add functionality for 3D Showcase. It is now easier to set start locations, disable excess scan positions, and label rooms for Floorplan view. We have also introduced a new asset management panel and streamlined user interface.
Updates to our vision processing algorithm improve automatic brightness adjustments, so lighting conditions in Spaces will now appear truer to actual capture conditions. This is most noticeable in ceilings, which were previously darker than expected.
Updates to our automated vision processing pipeline provide improved white balance for 2D imagery in 3D Showcase. Whites now appear truer to life, providing an overall more accurate 3D Showcase visual experience, and panoramic images will now be more balanced across the entire 3D Space.
This release includes improved user experience around tilt and rotation in Dollhouse view, improved touch controls, and faster loading for high-resolution panoramic images in 3D Showcase.
With the addition of touch controls in 3D Showcase, your immersive, interactive Matterport Spaces can now be explored on tablet and smartphone devices, where 40% of web traffic is.
With the introduction of global alignment in the Capture app, all scan alignment is now done automatically - with no user input! You no longer have to manually select the active scan to trigger alignment. This major breakthrough makes on-site scanning quicker and easier.
Additional updates to our Capture iPad app enable new features for on-site scanning. Users can now label multiple floors, duplicate and delete models on the iPad (to create multiple Space versions), re-upload models for processing (to re-edit windows, mirrors, and trim mark-ups), and improvements to capture speed.
